Bassis Polytimos is a Military Doctor, Dermatologist - Venereologist. He was born and raised in Arta, where he completed his secondary education (3rd High School - Arta High School). He then excelled in the nationwide exams and was admitted as the 1st in the Military Corps Officers School (SSAS) in 2001 in the Department of Medicine. He completed his studies at SSAS and the Department of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2007 with a grade of "Very Good". He also received a Military Commendation of Excellence.
In 2007 he was sworn in as an Ensign Physician in the Navy. In the period 2007-2008, he successfully completed the school of Naval Medicine and the school of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine. During the same period, he rotated in the clinics of the naval hospital of Athens. He also received certification in ATLS pre-hospital first aid from the American College of Surgeons and in ALS (Advanced Life Support).
In the period 2008-2013, he served as the head of the medical facilities of warships, specifically the frigate Psara and the tanker Rhodes. In 2013, he was assigned as a medical officer for the Naval Helicopter Base in Marathon.
Then, in the year 2014-2015, he trained in internal pathology as a specialist in Dermatology and Venereology, at the 1st Pathology Clinic of the Athens Naval Hospital.
From 2015-2018, he followed 3 years of training at the University Dermatology Clinic of the Venereal and Skin Diseases Hospital "Andreas Syggros" under the direction of Dermatologist Professor Rigopoulos Dimitrios and Professor Antonio Christina, where after a successful examination, he was awarded the title of the Dermatology and Venereology specialty.
Since June 2018, he holds the position of curator of the Dermatology Clinic of the Athens Naval Hospital.
The doctor is a member of the EDAE (Association of Dermatologists and Venereologists of Greece), the European Association of Dermatologists (EADV), the Hellenic Society of Dermatology and other medical societies.
The scientific work includes participation in the writing of international and Greek publications.
He constantly participates in domestic and international postgraduate seminars on inflammatory diseases and skin oncology, dermatoscopy, as well as aesthetic dermatology.
He is married and the father of two children.
