Download Trophoblast

Download trophoblast is an examination that aims to detect some abnormalities of the fetus such as chromosomal, congenital, hereditary, and metabolic abnormalities of the fetus.

It is done from the 11th week of pregnancy onwards, usually between the 12th-13th week.

Under continuous ultrasound control and with the use of very fine needles and after first injecting a local anesthetic into the pregnant woman's abdomen.

After the anesthesia wears off, a thin needle passes through the uterine wall and aspirates a small piece of placenta (trophoblast) of the embryo.

This piece is sent to the laboratory for diagnosis.

In about one to two days you will be notified of the first result for the chromosomal abnormalities.

The remaining analyzes take two weeks.

THE risk of miscarriage from receiving trophoblast ranges from 0.5 % to 1%.

Regarding amniocentesis it has the advantage that the trophoblast is taken earlier, while its disadvantage is that it has a slightly higher rate of miscarriage and that it is not always possible to perform it due to anatomical conditions (uterus position, placenta position, body structure of the pregnant woman).
